How to Create a New Opportunity in MoveRight

Step-by-step guide to creating a new lead opportunity in MoveRight — capturing contact info, move details, and getting the job into your pipeline.

Creating a new opportunity in MoveRight is how every job starts. An opportunity captures the lead’s contact information, their move details, and gets them into your sales pipeline so nothing falls through the cracks.

What You’ll Need

  • Access to your MoveRight account
  • The customer’s name, phone, and email
  • Basic move details (from city/state, to city/state, approximate move date)

Steps

1. Click “New Opportunity”

From your MoveRight dashboard, click the + New Opportunity button in the top right corner of the Opportunities section.

2. Enter Contact Information

Fill in the required fields:

  • First Name and Last Name
  • Phone Number — this becomes the number MoveRight uses for calls and SMS
  • Email Address

Tip: If the customer is calling in, you can create the opportunity while they’re on the phone. MoveRight saves automatically as you type.

3. Enter Move Details

  • Move From: City and state/province of origin
  • Move To: City and state/province of destination
  • Estimated Move Date: Use the date picker — even an approximate date helps with scheduling
  • Move Type: Local, long-distance, or commercial

4. Add Initial Notes

In the Notes field, add anything the customer mentioned on the call:

  • Home size (2BR apartment, 3BR house)
  • Special items (piano, pool table, artwork)
  • Access issues (third-floor walk-up, no elevator, tight parking)
  • Urgency or flexibility with dates

These notes feed the AI Pricing Engine if you’re on the Business plan or higher.

5. Assign the Opportunity

Use the Assign To dropdown to assign the opportunity to the rep who will follow up. If you’re a solo operator, assign it to yourself.

6. Set the Stage

New opportunities default to New Lead stage. Leave this as-is unless you’ve already spoken with the customer and have a confirmed next step.

7. Save

Click Save Opportunity. The record is now in your pipeline. MoveRight will track all future interactions — calls, texts, emails, estimates, and notes — in this opportunity’s timeline.

Next Steps

From the opportunity, you can:

  • Call or text the customer directly using the integrated phone
  • Create an estimate using the estimate builder
  • Schedule a follow-up task with a reminder
  • Move the stage as the job progresses toward booking
